about

TIARNÁN Ó DUINNCHINN
uilleann pipes, tape, live electronics

An homage to all the noises of the pipes. The richness of the sound of this instrument.
And the many rituals of pipers. Their comfort zones and their displays. Their relationship with their instrument.
A snapshot of the reasons for the stature, and the consequence of the reverence.
A very simple piece.
One solidification of the startup sounds. The piper’s CV, the mating call, the strut. A display of plumage, to be seen at sessions up and down the country. The piper has arrived.

The subtitle comes from a comment overheard in the audience at a piping competition.
